In addition numerous answers in the back of the book are completely unintelligible. Rosen has gone out of his way to transmogrify an interesting subject into a nightmare of incomprehensibility and frustration and managed to collect royalties for it. I don't know who is more despicable, Rosen or the reviewers on this thread who are obviously lying through their teeth about this book. In short, this book is roughly pages of incomprehensible trash for which no one reading the dishonest reviews on this thread should be conned into shelling out his hard-earned dollars.

Elementary Number Theory - 6th Edition - Kenneth H. Rosen

In the first paragraph of his preface, Kenneth H. Rosen says of his own book, "No other number theory text presents elementary number theory and its applications in as thoughtful a fashion as this book does. All this is quite unfortunate, as Rosen's book itself is written in a pleasant modest tone and is very good indeed. The core course consists of parts of Chapters 1, 3, 4, and 6. Chapters 2, 5, 8, and 10 have either a computer science or an applied feel. Chapters 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 14 represent more advanced pure topics. There is a long exercise set at the end of each section, for a total of sixty-five exercise sets in all.
